ShopDreamUp AI ArtDreamUp
Thank you for the sub
hey whoever gifted me a month subscription, thank you :> And to @Saimain for the hype and perfect bake reactions on some of my recent arts. :> Thank you!!:happybounce: I'm working on some more art and my books are chugging along slowly in the background - but things will slow down a lot in the latter half of this month, until sometime June. I'm closing on a house (and selling my current home) so I can officially move back to my hometown and be close to friends and family again. Excited to starting a new chapter and figure out what the future brings for all of this. :>
DeviantART hates Artists
With DA's latest scummy promotion of an AI scammer earning 12k in less than a year off selling AI images, I think they're saying the quiet part out loud. They hate real artists. They hate art. At least, the ones running the show and calling the shots. You check their profiles and it's nothing but AI. There are some who are not, and for them I know it's just their job and I hold 0 ill will toward them. But I absolutely loathe the powers that be running this site. I'm not going to hide the fact I'm viscerally angry at them for doing this, for reminding me how low they think of us. That we're nothing to them, yet our handcrafted art is everything for their generators. They would not exist without us, yet we're treated like absolute garbage. Not just by DA - every single fucking site is doing this. I'm so tired. I'm not leaving DA, there's still a strong artist community here, and I want to believe they'll be sold to someone/s who actually give a damn and are real artists
Tumblr to sell data to AI companies
Looks like DeviantART has become the better place to post art (albeit I still defer to glazing or nightshade before if you can) because the community backlash to DA's attempt to put the onus on the user to opt-out of their work being used to train AI was severe, and they heard us. So they made it default opt-in. You don't have to make sure you check every art to opt it out, and you don't have to worry about work posted years ago. Tumblr's going DA's original route - but because I think of how small the art community is by comparison, I'm unsure if it's going to get the same intensity of backlash to push the dev team to make it opt-in. So yeah. DA is the safest place to post work despite their shady practices. For now, of course. So if you have a Tumblr, go to each of your blogs in the blog settings, and scroll to the bottom to opt out. If you have multiple blogs, you have to do the same for each one. If you delete your blogs, it does not remove the data from their system
NIGHTSHADE IS OUT
As many of us know, Glaze is made for defending our work against direct model training/fine tuning, but Nightshade is an offensive measure intended to actually poison the data training sets. SO if more of us use it, the next time they launch data crawlers and scoop up all our images, those with Nightshade will be poisoning them. I'm excited to try it! They did say it works better on art with texture - as the effect is a bit more intense than Glaze. Here's the link!! https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/index.html And a link to the GLAZE team on Twitter if you guys got questions about it! https://twitter.com/TheGlazeProject Happy creating! :happybounce:
